Snow Lapse Photography

Fascinating time-lapse video of the Feb 5-6, 2010 snowfall in the Washington, D.C. area. Interestingly, this is not video per se but single-frame images shot with a digital SLR camera five minutes apart, then captured as a video animation and uploaded to YouTube.

As I watched, I couldn’t help but think how such vast improvements in technology have made a video such as this, both producing it and watching it, so common and everyday. Yet the weather continues to cut through that, reaching out to touch each and every one of us — which makes having a dependable weather forecaster on your team critical. Fortunately, it was a short video so I didn’t spend too much time thinking about it…
